Spark Education, Inc. (“Spark,” “we,” “our”) operates the Spark tutoring platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our Service at sparklearners.com.

Spark is subject to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent provided by the registering parent or guardian.

The parent or guardian who creates an account consents to the collection of limited information about their child (name, age, grade, subject interests) solely for the purpose of personalizing tutoring sessions.

Parents may at any time request to review, correct, or delete their child's information by contacting us at privacy@sparklearners.com. We will respond within 5 business days.

Account information (parent / guardian): Name, email address, and billing information for subscription management. Billing details are processed by our payment provider and are not stored on our servers.

Child profile: First name, age, grade, subject preferences, learning interests, and session notes. This information is entered by the parent and used only to personalize tutoring.

Session data: Tutoring session transcripts, topics covered, skills mastered, and areas for improvement. This data is used to provide continuity across sessions and to generate parent progress reports.

Usage data: Basic technical data such as browser type, device type, and session timestamps. This is used for service reliability and is not linked to identifiable individuals.

• To send weekly session summaries (opt-out available in settings)
• To improve the quality and accuracy of the tutoring AI
• To comply with legal obligations

We do not use any data for advertising or for training third-party AI models.

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We may share data with:

• Service providers who help us operate the platform (e.g., database hosting, payment processing) — bound by confidentiality agreements
• Law enforcement when required by law or to protect the safety of a child

We use Anthropic's Claude API to power tutoring sessions. Conversation data sent to the API is subject to Anthropic's privacy policy. We have a data processing agreement with Anthropic that prohibits use of data for model training.

Session data is retained for up to 12 months to support continuity across tutoring sessions and to generate historical progress reports.

You may request deletion of all account and session data at any time. Upon deletion, data is permanently removed within 30 days.

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted data transmission (TLS), encrypted storage, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; we encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you or your child
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
• Opt out of non-essential communications

We use only essential cookies required to keep you signed in and to maintain session state. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
